Obituary for Elsie Margaret Evans

Elsie Margaret Evans passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Riverside Place in Hoquiam, Washington.
Elsie was born December 15, 1929 in Peterborough, Ontario Canada, the eldest daughter of James and Viola. She spent her early years in Peterborough where she met a British former Royal Air Force Flying Officer and Navigator named Warwick (Wal) Evans. Elsie and Wal were married on August 1, 1950 and lived in Bridgenorth, Ontario where they began their family. They had three daughters: Diane, Barbara, and Jane.
In 1960, the Evans family emigrated to the United States and lived in Beloit, Wisconsin before moving to Aberdeen, Washington in 1964. Elsie is survived by her brother Gerry Black of Kingston, Ontario, her three daughters, 2 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Elsie worked in the library at Miller Junior High School and later in the Grays Harbor College library and office. She loved to travel and took many trips with GHC groups to Europe. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen, a Grays Harbor Community Hospital volunteer and a member of bridge clubs and a theatre-going group. Elsie was an excellent seamstress and sewed many costumes for the local theatre group. She also volunteered for many community organizations over the years.
