Obituary for Connie Merline Gulling

Connie M Gulling

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Connie, while surrounded by loved ones, went to be with her Lord and savior on July 19th at the Montesano Health & Rehabilitation center. Connie bravely battled breast cancer for 16 years. She fought cancer with unyielding faith, grace, joy, laughter and a dash of sarcasm.

Connie was Born in Phoenix AZ, in 1953 to Paul and Marlene Miller. Growing up the Millers moved around as Paul pastored many churches and went into the mission field where the family served for 11 years in South Africa. In 1971 they returned to the United States to pastor Westwood Wesleyan Church in White center WA. The Gulling family attended Westwood for many years and the new pastor’s daughter caught the eye of a young Lyle Gulling.

Lyle and Connie started their life together in 1977 and began sharing many adventures. Connie gave birth to Jodi in 1979 and Bethany in 1981. As a loving and devoted mother, Connie loved spending time with her daughters and filling their lives with laughter.

Connie loved serving the Lord and worked joyfully in children’s and youth ministry for many years. Connie served in many different ways including a traveling puppet show, missionettes, VBS, crafts, Sunday school teacher, and even served as a bird lady at a kid’s camp. Connie had a beautiful voice and loved singing with her family.

Connie and Lyle enjoyed 45 amazing years loving each other and raising their kids to love and serve the Lord. Connie, Lyle, and the girls loved being together and enjoyed countless family vacations and making memories together.

In 2003 and 2008, Connie’s family grew with the addition of two amazing sons-in-law who loved to her as a mom.

Connie was overjoyed when her 5 grandchildren were born and made sure each one knew that their grandma adored them no matter what.

As a tight-knit family, they made countless memories, with Connie’s favorite place being together at the Ocean.
Connie worked many years as an accountant, it was no surprise that in retirement that her and Lyle moved to ocean shores. They loved the peace and tranquility that comes with living at the shores. Connie enjoyed nature and named several of the deer that would come to visit daily but was furious when they would eat her Hydrangeas.

Connie was a light everywhere she went. She had a gift for making those around her feel important loved and like family. She had a smile that would light up the room.

Connie is survived by her loving husband Lyle, two daughters Jodi Becker of Black Dimond WA, Bethany Dodson of Houston TX, two sons ‘s in law, and five beloved and very spoiled grandchildren. Connie is also survived by three brothers, many cousins, nieces & nephews.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
