Obituary for Leona June Raub (Poukkula)

Leona June Raub of Hoquiam passed away Monday, July 5, 2021 at Riverside Place with her family by her side. She was 80. Leona was born on June 29, 1941 to Weckko and Leona (Harder) Poukkula in Aberdeen, WA. Leona attended school in Hoquiam and graduated with the Grizzzly class of 1960.

On November 16, 1963, Leona married Louis George Raub at Hoquiam’s First Presbyterian Church. They were married for many happy years before Louis preceded her in death at age 77.

Leona was employed with Hoquiam School District for 20 years prior to her retirement. During her working years she always found time to give back as a 4H leader, Scout Leader, and host for her quilting clubs. Among her many hobbies Leona loves to garden, quilt, sew and read. She could also be found walking and enjoying the Grays Harbor scenery.

Leona is survived by her sons Alan Raub of Aberdeen, WA and Corky Raub of Boise, ID; brothers Don Poukkula and John Poukkula both of Montesano, WA and Richard Poukkula of Central Park, WA; sisters Ginger Lundberg of Federal Way, WA and Patty Bradshaw of Cosmopolis, WA; 3 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Louis; brothers Jack, Bob, and Ed Poukkula, and parents Weckko and Leona Poukkula.
