Obituary for Floyd Wallace Parker

Floyd (Bud) Wallace Parker, 84, of Montesano, Washington, passed away and went to be with the lord after a brief illness on May 24, 2021 in Elma, Washington.

Floyd (Bud) was born in Whittier, North Carolina to Elmer and Verda (Nations) Parker on Dec. 31, 1936. The family moved to Hoquiam, Washington when he was a kid. He attended schools in Hoquiam.

Bud served his country with honor for eight years in the Army as a Heavy Weapons Infantryman (INF). During his time in the Army, he was stationed at a handful of places that included, Fort Ord, California; Fort Lewis, Washington and Hawaii. He also served overseas for 18 months in Korea and briefly in Thailand. Floyd was honorably discharged in 1963.

He married the love of his life Teresa (Pat) Dills on Oct. 6, 1972, in Aberdeen. They made their home in Hoquiam and later moved to Montesano in 1984.

After the Army, he worked as a heavy construction labor for many years at various construction sites in the local area that included ITT Rayonier in Hoquiam and the Satsop Nuke Site. After his retirement from the Labors Union, Floyd said he was not done with work. He then proudly worked as a janitor with the Aberdeen School District for over 15 years, finally retiring in 2000.

Bud enjoyed very much to attend church with his wife Pat at River of Life Fellowship in Aberdeen and at times he would be with her in prayer at the altar. Bud’s hobbies consisted of fishing, gardening, long car rides with family and friends. Most of all, Bud enjoyed spending time with his family.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents, younger brother Homer of Hoquiam, brother-in law Dale Butler of Lebanon, Oregon, grandson Caleb and nephew Gary Parker of Hoquiam.

Bud is survived by his wife Teresa (Pat) of Montesano; daughter Karen (Mike) Stites of Hoquiam, son Billy (Chris) Hicks of Lynwood, Washington; daughter Karla (Mark) of Montesano, son Abe (Moreen) of Hoquiam, son Duane Parker of Moriarty, New Mexico; daughter Cheri Smith of Renton, Washington; daughter Carla Thomas of Yakima, Washington; daughter Karri (Jim) Oeder of Pacific City, Oregon; son David Parker of Montesano; son Jason (Michelle) Parker of Tigard, Oregon; brother Carl (Donna) Parker of Hoquiam, sister in-law Doris Parker of Hoquiam, sister Jessie Butler of Lebanon, Oregon along with 24 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and many nephew and nieces.
